Knit lacrosse hat

My cousin recently had a new baby boy.  I wanted to make him a little gift to welcome him to the world.  He is adorable...and did I mention he is a boy?  This was a bit of an issue because I am not used to boys.  I have three precious girls but no boys.  I just don't know blue at all.  After some thorough investigating  (an enjoyable trip to the yarn store I heart),  I settled on some scrumptious and impossibly soft blue yarn (Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, which I also happen to heart).   And I made a sweet, soft blue hat.  It was cute enough once I knit it up, but I thought it needed a little something else. I attempted some appliques (a fish, an owl, and a star) and was not happy with them.  My oh-so-honest husband said one looked like a blob, another looked like a blob and the last looked like a snowflake.  Boo!  Then it struck me - a lacrosse stick.  My cousin loves the sport.  Go figure, I was not able to find a pattern for a knit lacrosse stick.  But did that stop me?  Oh no!  I designed one and, although it was a bit of work, I am so happy with how it turned out.

I love the cute little lacrosse stick.
